Sovereignty

Experimental film & performance.

An exploration of abnormality from my autistic female experience. A farewell to my past and the internal conflicts between different voices in my head. The battle for “becoming” a “normal woman” helps me recognize the similar natures between “outcastism” and human discrimination, allowing me to observe, question, and challenge gender norms.

Perhaps, as the Buddha said, suffering began with attachment to the “selves.” We, humans, are the Sovereign, the nations, the collectives, the ants and dust that make up the Sovereign, and all the beauties and beasts in between.

2026 Spring

UCLA Capstone Project

Overview:

I created a film that is displayed in the background of my performance, in which I stabbed, stitched, and kissed a mannequin. A close-up livestream of my performance is projected on the other side of the wall.

I also designed a booklet with poems and monologues from my “birthcake” project.
